Floating License
Floating Licenses Available
The release of version 1.2.9 of TimingTool Editor sees the introduction of floating
licenses. This feature was introduced to help manage licensing of TimingTool
seats using a robust and highly user friendly system.
The system simply comprises a server, an administration tool and TimingTool
itself. From version 1.2.9 of TimingTool Editor, either a floating license or
a fixed node seat may be used.
Features:
- Anti-hang. Networks can suffer short term outages. Should the server connection
be lost due to network or other problems, the client TimingTool applications will
continue to run for a short while.
If the server remains unavailable, TimingTool will pop-up a message saying that the server
connection is lost and the user may then choose to either save his work and exit or wait
until the server is restored.
- Visibility. Should all licenses be issued, a pop-up gives visibility of
who holds the licenses.
- No license hogging. If a client is unexpectedly lost due to system crash or
power loss etc., the license server automatically releases the license.
- User friendly. The administration is an application with a single frame - no
complex configuration required.
The server is available to users who have purchased a floating license and is
supplied without further charge. The server is available for both Linux and Windows
operating systems. Installation is straightforward, simply install the server
software then register the server as a service; registration scripts/batch
files are provided. License keys are added using the administration tool.
